India will have direct flight services from Cambodia from June 16. Cambodia Angkor Air, the national flag carrier of Cambodia, on Tuesday, May 14, announced that the airline will commence operations from Phnom Penh and New Delhi on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, four times a week.
What will be the price?
If believed to the COO of Cambodia Angkor Airline, Eng Molina, the pricing per person for a round trip from New Delhi to Phnom Penh is around Rs 23,000, including taxes.
How many people fly to Cambodia?
According to Koy Kuong, ambassador of the royal embassy of Cambodia to India, around 75,000 people from India used to fly to Cambodia every year pre-pandemic. However the number in 2021 reduced to 45,000 people visiting every year.
Kuong expressed optimism that the number of visitors visiting both countries will increase annually due to direct aircraft connections and the growing need for medical tourism in India. More people from Cambodia are seeking to come to India for medical treatment as the cost of treatment in India is comparatively less when compared to the neighbouring countries, Kuong added.
