Raja Bhoj International Airport in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh has announced the commencement of 24-hour operations, an initiative that will boost connectivity and provide assistance in the development of national and regional air traffic. The airport will offer more flexibility for airlines and operators as well, as mentioned in a statement released by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Tuesday.
Functioning of Bhopal Airport
The launch of round-the-clock operations at Bhopal Airport will help in planning the aircraft schedules properly. Airlines will be able to utilize the infrastructure and resources at the airport.
Expansion of connectivity and flight operations
As per the latest report, Bhopal Airport is currently offering flyers 220 weekly scheduled flights for nine domestic destinations which include Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. With this latest development, the airport’s scheduled flight is expected to see a rise of 268 during the upcoming winter season of this year. Meanwhile, Indigo is all set to introduce a direct flight between Bhopal and Pune on 27 October, 2024.
The AAI also mentioned that additional operational hours will allow more flights to depart and land. It will also be easier for the flight which will be operating on long-haul routes. The announcement of the longer operational hours will help in transforming Bhopal into an attractive hub. The expansion plan is expected to benefit travelers, and local businesses, generate jobs, and help boost the local economy. The logistics operations as well as handling of cargo will be enhanced with this new development.
Night parking facilities to be available
As per the release, airlines will be able to park their flight at the airport at night. This development can also encourage international airlines to consider Bhopal Airport for its operations. The expansion of the longer operation hours will also help in upgrading the status of the airports as a major transportation hub.
