Bhogapuram airport: Progress update

The Bhogapuram airport is expected to boost connectivity coupled with the economic development of the Uttarandhra region. About 36% of the work at the airport has been completed.

Naidu has inspected the airport’s work three times in the last month.

Following the inspection, the minister engaged with workers at the project site. Presently, there are 157 operational airports in the country, and the government is planning to further expand regional air connectivity initiatives.

It was previously mentioned that once the airport at Bhogapuram becomes operational, commercial activities at the existing Vizag airport would be discontinued. It’s important to note that a portion of Visakhapatnam airport falls under the jurisdiction of the Indian Navy.

Being constructed by the GMR Group, the greenfield airport will initially have the capacity to accommodate six million passengers annually, with plans for expansion based on future passenger traffic growth.
