Reaffirming its commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, Akasa Air has unveiled a Braille version of its in-flight dining menu for Café Akasa, its meal service on board. This version of the menu has been developed in partnership with The Xavier’s Resource Centre for the Visually Challenged (XRCVC). It has been designed to allow visually-impaired customers have a seamless experience on board.

The menu card was launched on October 12 to mark the ‘‘World Sight Day 2023’ which is celebrated on the same day each year.

The newly designed menu cards have been carefully crafted to offer a range of choices, encompassing meals, snacks, and beverages that passengers can conveniently order during their flight. The menu will help the customers to be more independent on board and select their meal preferences, thereby elevating their overall travel experience.

Braille safety manual

The airline said that the Braille menu aligns with its ongoing commitment to create a seamless flying experience for all passengers. In line with this, the airline introduced a Braille inflight safety manual earlier this year. The manual offered comprehensive safety instructions in both English and Hindi, to ensure a secure journey for passengers with visual impairments.

Talking about the launch of the new menu, Akasa Air Co-Founder and Chief Marketing and Experience Officer  Belson Coutinho said the menu card “ensures that passengers with visual impairments can easily access and enjoy refreshments from one of the most distinguished offerings- Café  Akasa”.
