In a strategic move to support the artistic community, Akasa Air, one of India’s rapidly growing airlines, has announced a groundbreaking initiative to eliminate handling charges associated with the transportation of musical instruments across its extensive network. This move has made travel more affordable for musicians.

What is Akasa Air’s new policy?

Under this new policy, passengers flying with Akasa Air will no longer face handling fees for carrying musical equipment such as guitars, keyboards, violins, and other instruments, as long as these items fall within the confines of their extra baggage allowance.

However, should the musical equipment surpass the free baggage allowance of one item or weigh more than 15 kgs, standard excess baggage charges will apply.

Since its inauguration in August 2022, Akasa Air has emerged as a key player in the Indian aviation industry, catering to over 5.9 million revenue passengers.

The airline currently serves 16 cities across the country, including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Delhi, Guwahati, Agartala, Pune, Lucknow, Goa, Hyderabad, Varanasi, Bagdogra, Bhubaneswar, and Kolkata.

Bookings for Akasa Air flights, along with a range of customer-friendly add-on services, can be conveniently made through the their official website, the Android and iOS app, authorized travel agents, and various online travel agencies (OTAs) nationwide.

This innovative step by Akasa Air not only enhances the travel experience for musicians but also demonstrates the airline’s commitment to fostering and promoting artistic talent within the Indian music industry. Musicians can now take to the skies with their instruments without the added burden of handling charges, thanks to Akasa Air’s forward-thinking approach to customer service.
