Air India has officially resumed its flights from the national capital to Tel Aviv, marking the end of a nearly five-month suspension of services. The decision to halt the flights was prompted by heightened tensions after the Israeli city faced an attack by Hamas militants.

According to a spokesperson for the airline, the Tata group-owned carrier restarted the Delhi-Tel Aviv flight route on Sunday (March 3). Initially, flights on this route will be operated three times a week – on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays – utilising a Boeing 787 aircraft.

Why was Delhi-Tel Aviv flight services cancelled?

The interruption in service had commenced on October 7, 2023, in response to security concerns arising from the Hamas attack on Tel Aviv.

Simultaneously, the Indian Embassy in Israel issued a precautionary advisory on Tuesday, urging Indian nationals to relocate to safer areas within the country. This advisory follows an incident where a missile fired from Lebanon resulted in the death of one Indian national and injured two others.

“In view of the prevailing security situation and local safety advisories, all Indian nationals in Israel, especially those working in or visiting border areas in the north and south, are advised to relocate to safe areas within Israel,” stated the embassy advisory, disseminated through various social media platforms.
