An Air India flight flying from Delhi to Chicago was diverted to Canada on Tuesday after a bomb threat, an airline official said.

Air India Flight AI127, operating on October 15, 2024, received an online security threat, due to which the flight took a precautionary landing at the Iqaluit Airport.

Air India confirmed that the aircraft, as well as passengers, are rescreened upon established security protocols. This airline has coordinated with agencies at the airport to assist its passengers as they await further updates in respect to their journey.

In its statement, Air India reported that it, along with several other local airlines, faced a series of threats recently. The threats were found to be hoax, but the airline underlined its commitment to safety and said that every threat is considered seriously as part of their responsibility as an airline operator.

Air India has committed to cooperate fully with any authorities in identifying who is behind these threats. Further, the airline stated that it may institute legal procedures against the perpetrators to be compensated for damages suffered by the airline.
