An Air India Express flight bound for Sharjah was flying from Tiruchirappalli has developed a technical issue shortly after the take-off on Friday evening, as reported by ANI. The pilots have successfully managed to make emergency landing at Tiruchirappalli airport. According to the latest report, the problem has arisen in the flight’s hydraulic system.
The rescue teams along with ambulances and fire trucks were sent to the airport as a precautionary measure. Air India Express Flight number IX 613 which has witnessed a mid-air technical glitch has landed successfully at Tiruchirapalli airport.
The flight had taken off around 5:30 pm and suddenly a fault in the hydraulic systems and the landing gear were identified. The pilots then took the decision to land back at Trichy airport.
According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, DGCA was monitoring the situation. The landing gear was opening. The flight landed normally and the airport was put on alert mode.
The Minister of Civil Aviation, Rammohan Naidu has also released a statement and mentioned that the hydraulic failure that occurred on an Air India Express flight from Trichy to Sharjah was carrying 141 people on board has landed safely. All the safety protocols were followed by the crew and well well-being of every passenger was taken care of. Naidu also stated that Air India Express has been advised to provide all necessary support to the flyers and also arrange alternate plans for their onward journey.
Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin tweets “I am heartened to hear that the Air India Express flight has landed safely. Upon receiving news of the landing gear issue, I immediately coordinated an emergency meeting with officials over the phone and instructed them to implement all necessary safety measures, including deploying fire engines, ambulances, and medical assistance. I have also now directed the District Collector to ensure the continued safety of all the passengers and to provide further assistance. My compliments to the Captain and crew for the safe landing.”
The DGCA has ordered a probe regarding the hydraulic failure.
