A new direct flight service connecting Ahmedabad to Keshod was inaugurated on Tuesday, catering to pilgrims visiting the revered Somnath Temple in Gujarat. The initiative, announced by the Gujarat Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board, aims to enhance travel convenience for devotees heading to one of India’s most significant pilgrimage sites.

Complimentary Bus Service for Pilgrims

In a move to further support the influx of visitors, the Shree Somnath Trust, which oversees temple operations, has introduced a complimentary bus service to transport pilgrims from Keshod Airport to the temple. Keshod is situated approximately 55 km from the Somnath Temple, located in Prabhas Patan of Gir Somnath district, making the new flight a valuable addition for those traveling from Ahmedabad, roughly 400 km away.

The flight service will operate three days a week—Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Departing from Ahmedabad at 10:10 AM, the flight will arrive in Keshod at 10:55 AM, with the return journey scheduled to leave Keshod at 1:15 PM and reach Ahmedabad by 2:30 PM.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi serves as the chairman of the Shree Somnath Trust, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure for pilgrims in the region. This new service promises to make visiting the iconic temple more accessible, encouraging more devotees to partake in the spiritual experience.
