Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend a post-Budget conference organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Tuesday, in one of the rare such events attended by a head of the Union government in recent years.
“Honorable prime minister has kindly consented to be the chief guest,” of the event “Journey Towards Viksit Bharat…” the CII said in a statement.
According to the industry body, the conference “will capture key reform measures for the next few years, including those outlined in the Union Budget, and collectively chart a path for Viksit Bharat.”
Besides the Prime Minister, commerce & industry Minister Piyush Goyal, and minister for agriculture and farmers’ welfare and rural development Shivraj Singh Chouhan Rural Development will address separate sessions and interact with participants.
The Union Budget for FY25, released on 23 July, lowered the government’s fiscal deficit target for the year to 4.9%, from 5.1% pegged in February’s interim budget. In FY24, the Centre’s fiscal deficit stood at 5.6% of GDP.
