Budget 2025-26 Announcements for Infrastructure Sector
Infrastructure Sector
The government has committed to maintaining infrastructure spending at 3.4% of GDP. This is essential for addressing India’s infrastructure gaps, including not only physical infrastructure like roads, ports, and airports but also social and digital infrastructure, as the country strives to become a developed nation by 2047.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is anticipated to see only a small increase in its budget allocation for the next financial year. This is due to slower project execution, fewer project approvals, and underuse of the funds already allocated.
The government may also encourage more private investment in the highway sector.
