The finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman while presenting the Union Budget 2024-25 emphasized the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment and economic participation.
Grant of Rs 3 lakh crore for Women centered schemes
A significant amount of more than Rs 3 lakh crore has been allocated for schemes specially tailored for the betterment of women and girls. The reason behind this strategic investment is to promote inclusive development and provide assistance to women’s companies, making the path easier for more women’s participation in the workforce.
Working Women Hostel, Creches, and reducing rate of stamp duties
In the Budget speech, Sitharaman mentioned that the government is also planning to set up working women hostels for economic and social benefits. For this, the government will collaborate with the industries.
Moreover, the government also plans to lessen property duties for women and make it a significant part of urban development initiatives. The finance minister has appealed to states that have high stamp duties to lower it down for properties bought by women.
Exclusion of Aadhaar Enrolment ID, SHGs & Skill building training programs
Sitharaman also announced waiving the use of an Aadhaar Enrolment ID for taxation work and using the original Aadhaar number in place of it. She also proposed establishing creches for working mother’s babies. The government will conduct women-centric skill workshops and women’s self-help group enterprise
The initiative announced in the Budget today by the finance minister aims to boost growth and entrepreneurial skills among women.
