Performance compliments the good looks and features of this HCL tablet
The basic expectation of a buyer from a budget tablet is to access his mails, type back a reply and browse across websites, or video chat with colleagues or friends if need be. In between, he expects some light entertainment in the form of some simple games or videos.
Recently, HCL Infosystems unveiled the latest range of HCL ME tablets which are available at very competitive prices?HCL ME U2?R5,999, HCL ME V1?R7,999 and HCL ME Y3?R11,999.
HCL ME V1 does fulfill the professional requirements very well. Its touch is smooth and responsive; browsing across is good and glitch free and so is typing. It also has a decent front camera for calling and for seamless internet connectivity it offers a 2G SIM slot. In case you want 3G connectivity, you can do so with a 3G USB dongle. It is compact, robust and weighs 350 grams and so is very easy to carry and hold, though the looks are pretty ordinary. Despite the robust build, we liked its lightness as most other 350g tablets seemed fragile and plasticky.
HCL ME V1, housed in a slim metal ID has features that make it an outright winner against similar tablets available in the Indian market. It is a computing device with integrated voice receiver and integrated call vibrate option and built in EDGE data support. It also has a dual camera, built in proximity sensor and 1 GB DDR3 RAM for faster processing. Whether the user wishes to take a call or listen to music, there is no additional accessory needed on the V1. It also has a robust 3200 mAH Li-Po battery and supports up to 11 3G USB dongles.
Most budget tablets fail to handle gaming properly and hang or drag a lot and HCL Me V1 is no different. Video playback is okay, speaker sound is ordinary but in headphones they are really good. It has an adequate 2 MP rear camera, a micro SD slot, 3.5 mm port and a micro USB port. In our various performance testing benchmark scores it appears quite ordinary even amongst budget tablets. Its battery lasts a good six hours. Its boot-up takes 1 minute and 14 seconds, which is too long for a tablet.
Some of the apps that comes pre-loaded with the new range of HCL ME Tabs are Big-Flix, Cleartrip, LinkedIn, NimBuzz, Twitter and Facebook. The HCL ME tablets are supported by an integrated back up service?HCL Touch, a 24 x 7 one touch service facility.
