The ongoing festive season holds huge stakes for luxury automakers vying to push up the sales in North and battery run bike makers or e- bike manufacturers are no exception. Amid 40 odd players offering semi imported versions of e bikes in the country quite a few are offering incentives to cash in on spurt in demand propelled by the season.
The environment friendly vehicle introduced by Electrotherm (India) through its range of Yo bikes in 2006 in the country are now available in different variants and brands. And leading the pack in the high potential pack in North are companies like Hero Group that has collaborated with UK based Ultra motors.
Apart from freedom from petrol costs the price range for e bikes is a big draw as it falls between Rs 14,000 to 20,000 for e- bikes whereas e-scooters, a more powerful version carry a price tag of Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000. Among the major e bike companies in North include Yo bike and Hero Group’s Ultra motors range are offering free insurance and registration to its clientele to mark the festive season.
“The attractive free gifts with the ultra motors bikes and scooters are aimed as a product promotion strategy and not just an effort to increase the sale. The market for e bikes is bound to grow in near future and the burgeoning market has scope for few more serious e bike manufacturers,” Deba Ghoshal, director (marketing), Ultra Motors said. “In the last couple of months the sales have registered 34 per cent growth and we hope the growth to carry through out the year,” he said
More watt power is the USP for Yo power as more powerful version of range?YO speed?has hit the market. “The company has set up a network of 200 dealers across the country and offers excellent post purchase services,” Saurabh Chadda, territory manager Chandigarh, Yo bikes said.
And at present when high interest rates has hit automakers adversely in the country the e bike manufacturers are having some respite due to low cost of imports. Batteries of almost all the e bike manufactured in India are at present are being imported from other countries including Malaysia and Singapore.
