XLRI will double the number of seats (from 65 to 130) for its flagship personnel management & industrial relations (PM&IR) course from the next academic year beginning June 2008.
The B-School had a few years back hiked the intake capacity of its business management (BM) course from 65 to 130.
Though hostel and other infrastructure required to accommodate more students are ready, XLRI is yet to receive the formal clearance from the All India Council for Technical Education.
“It (the clearance) will come before we start,” Father N Casimir Raj, director of XLRI, told FE.
The B-School is also awaiting a deemed university status from the University Grants Commission.
The Jharkhand government has promised XLRI around 40 acres at Mosabani, 25 km from here, where the institute plans to start graduate and postgraduate courses in various disciplines.
“We have applied for the land identified by the government. But, it will take some time,” said the director.
The Mosabani land had been under the control of Hindustan Copper Ltd until it was taken back by the state government in the recent past.
The B-School has also planned to completely revamp the curriculum for its two flagship courses?BM and PM&IR– and introduce a new syllabus in 2009, its diamond jubilee year. It has formed two panels to recommend the necessary changes in curriculum.
