Whirlpool Corp is focussing on the small towns of the eastern region to increase sell of all its product categories including washing machines, air conditioners and microwaves. The region contributes about 14% of the company’s total turnover in India.

“Eastern region market has always been a growing one and now we are focussing on the upcountry towns more,” said Tamal Kanti Saha, vice president (sales), Whirlpool India. The company has launched innovative products for the festive season in the city across its five categories.

The company targets revenue of Rs 400 crore during the two months of the same season pan India, added Saha. Last year, the revenue for the festive months stood at Rs 320 crore.

The company is targeting to increase its turnover to Rs 2,500 crore this fiscal from Rs 1,808 crore registered last fiscal. Whirlpool holds 28% of the market share in the refrigerator segment and the comny’s exports to 56 countries stood at Rs 100 crore in the last financial year.
