German car maker Volkswagen is struggling to meet the surging demand for its cars in India with the company?s order book position increasing almost every day. Like the company?s locally manufactured premium hatchback Polo, its newly launched sedan model Vento too commands a lengthy waiting period.
Speaking with FE, Neeraj Garg, member of board and director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India, said the Vento has received good response in the market. He said the higher response has led to waiting period. He said, ?the waiting period for Vento runs from one to one and a half month time.? Vento, which falls in entry level premium sedan category, comes in both petrol and diesel versions with a price tag of between Rs 7.05 lakh and Rs 9.31 lakh. It has three variants in petrol and two in diesel.
The price for Vento was announced in mid August, when the company opened bookings for the car. The first car was delivered on September 6. Within two weeks of the first car delivery, he said the company received orders for more than 4,000 units of Vento.
Already the Polo, which was launched in India in March this year, has a waiting period of 3-4 months. Now, the Vento also has a waiting period. The company is taking all steps to ensure early delivery of the car, he said.
