The violence in Kolkata on Wednesday provided fresh ammunition to the Opposition against the CPI(M).
While the BJP reiterated their demand for the dismissal of Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee government in the state, the Congress urged the state government to deal with the violence on ?a war footing?.
The CPI also termed the violence ?unfortunate?, and hoped that the government would handle the situation in a proper manner.
The issue rocked Parliament with the Rajya Sabha adjourning for the day in the afternoon. NDA members demanded a statement from the Union home minister over Central intervention as the Army was called in.

Thursday along with the Nandigram did not pacify the Opposition members and the ruckus followed forcing an adjournment.
Terming the protests legitimate, deputy leader of BJP in Lok Sabha VK Malhotra said that the state government should immediately restore the law and order situation.
