Turmeric prices fell by 1.92 per cent to Rs 8,458 per quintal in futures trade on Wednesday amid increased arrivals from new season crop in the market.

Analysts said trading sentiments turned weak on adequate stocks following arrivals of new season crop in the market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in May fell by Rs 166, or 1.92 per cent, to Rs 8,458 per quintal, with an open interest of 13,695 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in June lost Rs 116, or 1.37 per cent, to Rs 8,328 per quintal, with a business turnover of 7,420 lots.
