Engineering firm Siemens Ltd reported almost two-fold growth in net profit at Rs 337.01 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2009.

The Indian subsidiary of Germany’s Siemens AG, had a net profit of Rs 169.42 crore in the June quarter of FY’09, Siemens said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Income from operations rose 5.52 per cent to Rs 1,909.60 crore during the third quarter, from Rs 1,809.68 crore in the corresponding period a year-ago.

During the quarter, the company made an exception income from profit worth Rs 210 crore on sale of investments in its IT arm.

Shares of Siemens were trading at Rs 465, up 0.55 per cent over previous close in the late afternoon trade on the BSE.
