The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition filed by a pilots? organisation against an allegedly strenuous duty roster that requires them to undertake up to three flights within their nine-hour daily schedule.

Such schedule will continue till the government comes out with new regulation.

The Joint Action Committee of Airlines Pilots? Association of India had challenged the Bombay High Court?s ruling that upheld the validity and propriety of a Circular issued by DGCA on May 29, 2008 which in effect had kept the Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) of July 27, 2007 in abeyance.

The circular had essentially lengthened the pilots? work and flight hours, thus reverting to the 1992 rules.
