?An artist has no frontiers and no religion. He is happy where he is; leave him in peace.? That?s the credo Burman lives by. He may be settled in Paris since 1956, but his heart (and art) is in India.
Which is why it didn?t take much prodding by Lavesh Jagasia of The Serigraph Studio, Mumbai to launch a limited edition of ?The Complete Collection? of Sakti Burman paintings in serigraphs, spread over 30 years. A Burman painting sells for Rs 45-75 lakh, but these serigraphs are priced between Rs 30,000-45,000. The Complete Collection has 24 different serigraphs in two sizes and are in a limited edition of 125, each with a certificate of authenticity giving details of the respective serigraphs, numbered, titled and signed by the artist. A serigraph is a art print that is produced using the screen-printing method. The screen used nowadays is of polyester and not silk, the name has stuck.
