Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has launched a drive to look out for global contractors for development of its highly-prospective KG-D6 (KG-DWN-98/3) block.

According to sources, sub-sea deep water facilities with an onshore gas terminal are to be installed, along with an onshore gas terminal as part of the development plan of the gas field.

The onshore gas terminal would be situated near Gadimoga village in Tallarevu Mandal, about 30 km south of Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.

RIL has sought various services from global contractors. The company wants supply and installation of two tug mooring buoys. RIL would also need one mooring buoy at a water depth of 1,250 metre and the other mooring buoy at an operational water depth of 200 metre and a vessel with a capacity of 7,500 BHP and displacement of 3,000 tonne with a supply vessel of size 70m x 14m x 6m.

Moreover, RIL would expect contractors to design, construct, commission and supply of two high-speed security boats with steel hull construction having a cruising speed of 20-25 knots.

Further, the company has sought design, construction, commissioning and supply of two tugs with steel hull construction and up to 80 tonne Bollard Pull, DP-II, Fi-Fi 1 and 2 with tankage and deck space facility for material transportation.

Meanwhile, RIL has already informed the petroleum ministry that the $12 billion K-G basin gas, pipeline project is on track and will be ready quite ahead of schedule. The company has noted that the gas would be delivered by July 2008 from the K-G basin project.
