Reliance Logistics Private Ltd (RLPL), a group company of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), is planning to revamp its logistics business.

The company is planning to set up 10 to 12 logistics parks in all major cities in the first phase, with an initial investment of around Rs 1,000 crore. These proposed logistics parks would cater to RIL?s retail venture as well as other companies in all major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Indore and Surat.

According to senior company officials, ?RLPL is looking to take the share of non-Reliance customers to up to 50% of its total logistics business by setting up these logistic parks.? Recently, the company formed a special team to look after the main infrastructure of the proposed logistic parks, added officials.

However, the official did not comment on whether RLPL would develop these logistics parks on their own or would rope in a joint venture partner.

At present RLPL caters more than 60 % of the entire logistics needs of the Reliance Group of companies.
