Senior officials of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) discussed various aspects of the country?s financial sector during a three-day brainstorming session in Mumbai during December 21 to 23.
All the regional heads of the central bank took part along with their counterparts at its head office in Mumbai in the annual event, known as the senior management meet. The committee on financial sector assessment, which was constituted by the Centre, in consultation with the Reserve Bank to undertake a comprehensive assessment of the financial sector, is likely to submit its report by the end of the calendar year.
Various aspects were discussed about the overview of the committee?s report, which is under preparation, during the session planned six months in advance.
The session was inaugurated by RBI governor D Subbarao. Normally, officials of the rank of chief general manager and above take part in this event.
Some of the other issues that came up for discussion during the event include customer service, settlement and market structure. Some of the guest speakers that attended the event include Arvind Kejriwal, Ila Bhatt and Mark Tully, said a source.
