San Diego-based, global patent holder for CDMA chip, Qualcomm Inc said on Tuesday that it would be investing in Indian start-up companies offering innovative technologies and services that enhance wireless communications and semiconductor ecosystems. Qualcomm Ventures? first direct equity investment in India is in Tessolve Services Pvt Ltd, a provider of solutions and platforms for semiconductor testing, packaging, qualification and failure analysis.

Qualcomm?s investment will be in companies that can serve the mobile and semiconductor ecosystems in the country. Mobile application/ platform software developers, semiconductor components, devices and service platforms, and network infrastructure providers are amongst the segments the company will focus its investment in. The company will also provide strategic guidance in enhancing and protecting innovations and support in standardising technologies of the invested companies.
