American computer maker Dell has become the latest entrant in the printer space in India with the launch of its 1250c, which it claims to be the world?s smallest compact colour LED printer. The first of Dell?s new range of LED-based machines sets a new form factor for the colour page printer. A user can get crisp and fast colour laser printing from the device. With a true print resolution of up to 1200 x 600 dpi, the Dell 1250c produces razor-sharp printouts for both business graphics and text. It delivers high-performance printing of upto 12 pages per minute (ppm) mono and upto 10 ppm colour in a compact form factor.
The Dell 1250c colour laser printer?s compact frame makes sense for users in a confined space. Unlike laser printers, this LED printer?s heads have no moving parts, thus making it more reliable and compact. The control panel for the printer is simple with basic LED-based error information about the status of printer cartridges, paper jams etc. At the back is a single USB socket, as the 1250c has no network support.
To use the printer, you have to fold the front panel down. This reveals a 150-sheet feed tray. The output tray flips open from the top cover to hold documents as they come out. The right side of the printer opens a cover to reveal a stack of four cartridges which can be easily replaced.
Designed for high printing volumes and great usage demands, the printer has a standard paper input capacity of 150 sheets and also provides a duty cycle of up to 30,000 pages per month. It allows users to print, copy, and scan documents. Moreover, it is equipped with 192 MHz processor speed and 64 MB RAM.
Print quality is very good and consistent. The text in black is easily legible and colours are quite vibrant. We observed a speed of 11 ppm for B&W text-based documents and 8 ppm for images and colour documents. The printer is not very costly as compared to other LED-types but as expected, the black toner costs R5k while the colour ones come at R5,600 apiece.
With the ultra compact design and powered by breakthrough LED printing technology, the 1250c provides effortless setup and installation via USB2.0 port. The Dell 1250c is Energy Star certified, making it more power efficient than conventional models. Equipped with wide range of features, the 1250c colour laser printer lets you print vivid, bright and vibrant printouts with ease.
All in all, an easy to use quality colour LED printer which also saves on space in your office.
