President Pratibha Patil?s son leads the list of wards of political biggies seeking party tickets to contest the forthcoming assembly polls in Maharashtra.

A sizeable number of sons and daughters besides other relatives of political heavyweights including power minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, heavy industries minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Himachal Pradesh governor Prabha Rao and PCC chief Manikrao Thakre are waiting in queque for party tickets to carry on the family legacy forward.

President Patil?s son, Raosaheb Shekhawat is hoping to get a ticket from Amravati assembly seat to begin his political innings in the state, much to the chagrin of sitting MLA and state minister Sunil Deshmukh. Shekhawat has already begun informal campaigning in the area with the backing of the state leadership including PCC chief Thakre who recently made a public appeal for Shekhawat as the potential candidate from the seat. Deshmukh has reached the Capital to lodge his protest with the party high command, threatening to turn rebel if the seat is taken away from him.

Power minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, on the Sother hand, is keen to launch his daughter Pranati from his constituency of Solapur.

Pranati has been helping her father in the constituency for years now, and if the party leadership decides to favour her candidature, she will be joining the long list of daughters of famous Maharashtra politicians who have inherited their father?s political legacy. They include Supriya Sule, daughter of agriculture minister Sharad Pawar and Congress MP Eknath Gaikwad?s daughter Varsha, who is an MLA.
