To cater to the Japanese market, Patni Computer Systems has formed a joint venture between its Japanese arm Patni Computer Systems Japan, Inc (Patni Japan) and JR Kyushu System Solutions Inc (JRQSS), the IT systems arm of Japan?s Kyushu railway company.

The JV has invested Yen 100 million and formed JR Kyushu Patni Systems, Inc. (JRQP) with 51:49 partnership between JRQSS and Patni Japan, respectively. The JV aims to provide high-quality, cost-effective IT and product engineering services to the Japanese enterprise market.

Patni APAC president V Mathivanan said, ?We have been in the Japanese market for about 15 years. With this JV, we want to cater to the increasingly growing demand in product engineering for the manufacturing hub in Japan. The JV would help us grow in Japan, especially in Fukuoka-shi, and also expand into other Asian markets in the future.?

Patni has been servicing JR Kyushu Group companies earlier. Mathivanan did not share details, in terms of revenue flow from the JV. APAC contributes 7% to Patni’s revenues.

The Yen 293-billion firm JR Kyushu Railway Company is in the railroad business, direct management to station buildings, asset utilisation and selling mansions in lots etc. The group is also working on two big projects. The are opening all lines at the new Hakata station building, and starting Kyushu bullet train (Kagoshima route) next year.

Koji Karaike, CEO, JR Kyushu said, ?By combining Patni?s high-end technical and sales capability with our domestic expertise, we will be able to offer quality IT services to customers other than the JR Kyushu Group. We are very pleased to take the first step of growth in this new area.
