Patni Computer Systems sees a great opportunity in the KPO space and expects it to grow 30%-40%, keeping in line with Nasscom?s prediction despite the current slowdown.

The outsourcing arm of Patni currently caters to the US, Europe, Australia and the Japanese market. The KPO arm provides service in segments like healthcare management, life science space, actuarial & analytics space. ?All the above areas require high-end and complex skill sets. Such skills are short in supply or extremely expensive in the US and Europe. Hence, these areas show great potential and we expect the KPO business to grow around 30%-40% this year despite the slowdown,? said Sanjiv Kapur, senior VP & head BPO, Patni.

?A majority of our BPO & KPO clients are in US and Europe followed by Asia Pacific. Especially for our KPO business, we see significant potential in Europe and APAC including UK, Ireland Japan, and Australia,? he added.

According to Nasscom estimates, the KPO sector is expected to be worth $17 billion by 2010, of which $12 billion would be outsourced to India.
