Numeric is planning to set up a one mw solar power project at its wind farm in Palladam investing Rs 20-25 crore. The company expects its turn over to cross Rs 500 crore in 2009 -10.
Already it has completed over 100 installations for many banks and other customers, mainly in rural areas. It has also done 5 kw banking automation project in Nigeria and 10 kw grid connected project in Kenya.
R Chellappan, managing director told a team of journalists, who visited the Numeric UPS systems manufacturing plant on Friday, that the inspiration to go about installing solar power projects came from Numeric?s own experience. The UPS plant at Chemmencherry, on the outskirts of Chennai metropolis, and its plants Pondicherry and Salem work round the clock without interruption in spite of the 40% power cut and load shedding by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.
?At Chemmencherry, we have solar power installations for 120 kw against our total demand for 225 kw. The grid interactive system stores the surplus power generated in the day time in batteries and is used at night when there is demand cut,? he said.
