Sify has adopted Microsoft?s Silverlight platform to enhance its sports portal live-cricket services during 2011 World Cup, Natesh Mani, president, consumer infrastructure, Sify Technologies, has said.
According to January data from Comscore, Sify raced to the third spot, pipping websites like Faniq.com, Crickbuzz.com, Cricket Nirvana.com, Krishcricket.com, and MSN Sports International. Sify comes after Yahoo Cricket and ESPN . Yahoo Cricket logged 4 million visitors while ESPN could mop up 3.5 million during the period. Around 10 million visitors logged on to sports pages from India during January, which is almost double the number registered in January 2010. Comscore observes that portals like Sify a high during pre-IPL player auction of around 19 January generating much of excitement about players selection in IPL. Staging a smart rally of user numbers in the current cricket season sparked off by the pre-IPL auction buzz, Sify alone has clocked close to 1 million users followed by other sites like CricBuzz.com at 6.4 lakh visitors, CricketNirvana.com at 5.23 lakh visitors, KrishCricket.com at 3.06 lakh visitors and Cricketnext.com at 2.78 lakh visitors keeping a tab on the unfolding action of their favourite sport.
