EDMS services: Life Insurance Corporation of India announced that its proposed Enterprise Document Management Services (EDMS) across the country would be completed by 2010. “Our proposed EDMS will be completed in all 106 divisions under eight zones in the country in two years,” LIC regional manager S Nagesh said. “Hewlett Packard will set up a scanning centre in each divisional office, which will ensure storing all details of persons who have insured with us,” he added.

Under the proposed project, about 100 LIC agents under the ‘Chairman club’ would be selected across the country and would be linked with the zonal office through a system, authorising them to collect premimum amounts from customers. “Details of about 23 crore policy holders will be scanned through this project,” he added.

“Customers will also be provided with the portal facility, which will help them get online information regarding their policies,” he added.

On the proposed satellite branches, Nagesh said about 80 branches have already been set up and another 80 would come up in six months.
