With a hung assembly, all parties in J&K should strive to make the next government stable and working (?Redefining the centre in Kashmir?, Dec 29). The state had suffered enough and the people have placed overwhelming trust in democracy. Respecting the mandate for change, the next government should formulate a development-oriented approach to steer the state away from trials and tribulations of the past.

The vote in J&K has slighted the hardline militant who insisted on a kalashnikov-centric solution to issues. Sounds like Kashmiris have learnt good lessons from the chaos across LoC.
