As the stalemate continued in Jammu and Kashmir, with both the Sri Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti (SASS) and the Hurriyat parties sticking to their guns, the CPI(M) has started efforts to bring the leaders of both the sides to the negotiation table by playing the role of a mediator. Mohammed Yusuf Tarigami, CPI(M)?s central committee member and MLA, is holding a series of meetings with the government as well as Opposition leaders at the Centre to facilitate the talks back in the Valley.
??Tarigami has met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and various BJP leaders and has conveyed them about the gravity of situation in the state. The Centre should immediately take initiatives to restore peace through a process of dialogue,?? CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat told FE.
??In the interests of the country, it is imperative that the Centre take immediate initiatives to restore peace and normalcy through dialogue with both sides, first separately and then jointly, to work out an acceptable solution,?? the CPI(M) politburo had said in a statement.
