The coming monoon session may see the three financial bills namely, Payments and Settlements System Bill, SBI Act (Amendment) Bill and the Micro Financial Sector (Development and Regulation) Bill, creating headache for the UPA government. The Left parties have made it clear that they would oppose these legislations in their present form.
As the Presidential elections are over, and the UPA-Left Vice-Presidential candidate is “certain” to win, the Left leaders maintain that now it’s time for “real business.”
The CPI(M), after its last central committee meet, had said that the party would be more “assertive” on policy issues in the monsoon session. The monsoon session is scheduled to begin on August 10.
The party also expects Prevention of Communal Violence Bill, Women Reservation Bill and a debate on the Indo-US nuclear deal in the coming session. The Seeds Bill, if presented, would also invite flak from the Left. The party has already opposed some of the provisions stated in the Bills in the Standing Committee meeting earlier.
