Pharmaceutical company Jubilant Organosys?on Tuesday posted a?consolidated net profit of? Rs 125.82 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2009, a ten-fold jump compared to a net profit?of Rs 12.76 crore in the corresponding?quarter ended June 30, 2008, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
The jump is mainly on account of?mark-to-market gains over the same period last year.
The company?s total income rose by around 8% to Rs 901.33 crore in the June quarter of the current financial year as against Rs 831.02 crore in the same quarter last year.
?The growth is led by contract research and manufacturing, new partnerships in drug discovery and development services and new product launch in radio pharmaceuticals segment. Going forward, improved capacity utilisation, better synergies from integration and new collaborations with global pharmaceutical companies will deliver the expected?growth and improvement in margins,? Jubilant Organosys CMD Shyam S Bhartia and co-chairman and MD Hari S Bhartia said.
Piramal Life loss at Rs 28 cr
Drug firm Piramal Life Sciences on Tuesday reported a net loss of Rs 28.12 crore for the June quarter as compared to Rs 21.27 crore in the same period last year. Net sales rose to Rs 1.73 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2009, against Rs 1 lakh in the same period ended June 30, 2008, Piramal Life Sciences said in a filing to the BSE. Last year, Piramal Healthcare had changed the name of its research and development centre to Piramal Life Sciences from NPIL Research and Development. Shares of Piramal Life Sciences hit upper limit at Rs 60.10 on the BSE, up 9.97% from the previous close.
Sintex profit up 7%
Plastics product maker Sintex Industries on Tuesday said its consolidated net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2009 rose 7.27% to Rs 60.58 crore over the same period last year.
The company logged a net profit of Rs 56.47 crore in the same period ended June 30, 2008, Sintex Industries said in a filing to the BSE. On a standalone basis, the company has posted a net profit of Rs 48.22 crore for June quarter, up 10.31% from Rs 43.71 crore in the same period last year.
Shares of Sintex Industries were trading at Rs 192 on the BSE, up 1.75% from its previous close.
Blue Dart net down 44%
Blue Dart Express reported a total income of Rs 208.26 crore for the second quarter ended June 30, 2009, as compared to Rs 244.65 crore during the corresponding quarter last year. It also posted a decrease of 44% in its net profit to Rs 11.43 crore, as compared to Rs 20.63 crore during the corresponding quarter last year. For the half-year ended June 30, 2009, the company logged a net profit of Rs 23.12 crore, down 55% compared to Rs 51.36 crore during the corresponding period last year.
