Even as Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy seemed to have lost the support of YSR loyalists for defying the party high command, he stuck to his guns on Tuesday saying that his controversial tour of Telangana was personal and did not have any political connotation.
On the other hand, for the first time since he became the chief minister, K Rosaiah had reasons to smile as several ministers trooped into his office to show their loyalty to him after Jaganmohan accused Rosaiah of being responsible for Friday?s violence at Mahabubabad railway station. Minister for information and tourism J Geeta Reddy led the ministers in affirming their support to Rosaiah.
Though he was snubbed by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who did not give him an appointment, Jaganmohan met Union law minister Veerappa Moily, who is AICC in-charge of party affairs in Andhra Pradesh, and briefed him about his Odarapu yatra. It?s a tour to meet the families of persons who allegedly committed suicide or died of shock after hearing the news of YSR?s death, he said. Jaganmohan reportedly made a tactical retreat by seeking permission to tour non-Telangana districts. From June 8, he will start his tour again from the coastal district of Srikakulam.
?I have got clearance from the high command to go ahead with my yatra. The issue has been sorted out and they understand that my tour is not political, rather it is in memory of my father,? Jaganmohan said after meeting Moily. ?The meeting went off well. Moilyji greeted me warmly, appreciated my tour, and blessed me. I have got the go-ahead for the tour,? he added.
