India and Pakistan resumed peace talks here on Thursday with a day-long meeting between senior officials from both the countries.

According to a joint statement released at the end of talks, mandated by the respective foreign secretaries, both the countries reviewed the implementation of the existing CBMs.

The talks will be followed on Friday with discussions on nuclear safeguards and ways to keep nuclear arsenals under control.

Early next week on Monday, officials from both sides will also review efforts to put in place a regular joint anti-terrorism mechanism designed to share intelligence on militant activities.
