With the onset of summer season it?s time for the slugfest to begin between the ice cream majors. Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation?s (GCMMF), which markets its products under the ?Amul? brand with a marketshare of 37%, is looking at launching a range of news products, including natural vanilla, pro-biotic ice creams, sugar-free ice creams and swirl.
??This summer synthetic vanilla is out and we are introducing 100% natural vanilla ice creams. In all these product categories except swirl we will introduce some of the new flavours like strawberry, chocolate and Litchi.?? said RS Sodhi, general manager (marketing), GCMMF.
National Dairy Development Board-owned Mother Dairy, which has a marketshare of about 9%, also plans to undertake a large-scale exercise to revamp its ice-cream segment, targeting both youth and children.
??We would be focusing more on creating top of mind recall for our existing brands ?Chillz? and ?Mother Dairy Lic Lolleez? targeted towards youth and kids respectively. We are firming up our plans to launch these new flavours this summer season,?? Paul Thachil, CEO, Mother Dairy India Ltd said.
The company, however, refused to divulge the exact flavour details adding that it would cater to the youth with the launch of unique flavours and product propositions under the ?Chillz? brand, while in the ?take home segment?, the company?s focus would be to provide great taste through superior quality ingredients and abundant toppings.
