Heavy arrival of red onions was reported at the Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) of Lasalgaon and other APMCs resulting in declining prices of onions, sources said.

Onions were auctioned at the maximum price of Rs 762 per quintal and at a minimum of Rs 461 per quintal minimum yesterday with the average price hovering around Rs 551 at Lasalgaon.

However, irate farmers, who brought their onions for auction at Satana APMC, staged rasta-roko last evening when auctions could not take place.

Meanwhile, an all party morcha was taken out in Chandvad tehsil town in the district, demanding to raise the minimum price of red onions to Rs, 1000 and submitted a memorandum in this regard to the tehsildar.
