Software services provider HCL Technologies on Thursday said it has opened a global development centre in Sydney, which will cater to research and development needs of the customers across the region.
The Sydney office opening is part of HCL’s global delivery strategy to offer support to customers from various locations around the world, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The centre would accommodate over 500 staff across the region.
“Our success has been built on key markets such as Australia and New Zealand, where we have been operating for over a decade. It is the area with the highest growth potential and is already the fastest growing region in HCL’s global network,” HCL Technologies Head, Australia and New Zealand, Brian Pereira said.
The Sydney expansion is followed by opening of an office in Canberra in May, 2007. HCL would soon open another office in Melbourne, he said.
HCL, at present, operates delivery centres in India, China, Poland, Singapore and Ireland and has announced its plans to open the US delivery centre in North Carolina, the company said.
Shares of the HCL Technologies were trading at Rs 225.10, down 1.66 per cent on BSE in the afternoon trade.
