The Ranpur?s Bhal-Nalkantha Khadi Gramudyog Mandal has received an order from a Japanese company to provide woollen khadi. The organisation has to cater to this order within 20 days. This is the first time ever that the Gujarat?s woollen Khadi is to be exported to foreign shores.

The organisation?s secretary Govindbhai Dabhi told FE that this is the only organisation which is producing woollen khadi by hand spinning and hand weaving.

?This organisation was established 50 years ago and more then 200 employees are directly involved with it. The Ambercharkhas have been improved for the woolen spinning. The women of the organisation get a daily wage of Rs 75 to Rs 100.? Dabhi said.

At present the organisation is using the Australian Marino wool for production. The raw material is being purchased from Bikaner.

The organisation is producing every product of woollen khadi. There is a robust demand of woollen khadi in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. Even in Gujarat there is a particular class which frequently demands woollen khadi.
