Your editorial (?Ironic intervention?, Nov 24) has rightly questioned Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi?s claim that the state?s growth is on account of his governance. While nobody can deny the economic advancement made under him, the fact remains that Gujarat always had a vibrant culture of trade and entrepreneurship. To boost this, any state government would focus on power facilities, private ports, roads, special economic zones, etcetera. The state?s legacy of good infrastructure and dynamic business culture transcends the political stewardship of any single person or party.

Regional parties have played havoc in Indian politics (?National vision as a casualty?, Nov 24). National parties, with their compulsions to be honest to the whole nation, can?t support every petty local issue. Regional parties capitalise on this fact. Hence, the coalition era was born. In a coalition, any ekka, dukka or Gowda can play mischief. Considering the larger perspective, we must vote for national parties instead of regional ones. This will help speedy decision making.
