Former Prime Minister and national president of Janata Dal (secular) HD Deve Gowda has alleged that the Yeddyurappa-led BJP government in Karnataka was wrong in giving the green signal to the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project (BMICP) by consenting to the demands of Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise Ltd (NICE) to grant the firm 2,289 acres of extra land costing around Rs 30,000 crore.

Gowda said here on Monday that the land being given to NICE by the BJP government, and the right that the company now has to sell the land, were not part of the original project as initially approved by Karnataka high court and upheld by the Supreme Court.

Gowda was here to releasing a book, Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project: A Case Study in Fraud and Collusion to Defeat the Ends of Justice and Defraud Courts, published by the legal cell of the Janata Dal (Secular). The former Prime Minister said in the forward that he has written in the book, ?I have full faith that the Supreme Court will take suo motu cognizance of this unprecedented attempt to abuse judicial process and bring the perpetrators to book.?

Gowda said in order to bring the facts to the public, he would ensure that the book is distributed to the MLAs of Karnataka Assembly as well as to MPs of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. Earlier, noted Kannada writer and Padma Bhushan and Jnanpeeth awardee U R Ananthamurthy had also alleged fraud and collusion in the implementation of Bangalore Mysore Corridor Project.

Ananthamurthy has alleged in his petition certain officers working in collusion with NICE Ltd. changed the quantity of land to be returned to Karnataka government as per the terms of the Framework Agreement (FWA) from 14255.7 acres to 11966 acres, thereby in a single stroke making 2289 acres of extra land to be sold by NICE Ltd.
