Three foreign companies and one from Mumbai have lined up for drawing up the master plan for the development of the Rs 4,000-crore Navi Mumbai Airport. The state-run City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) has received initial bids for the appointment of prime consultant from UK?s Scott Wilson, US-based Louis Berger, Singapore?s Maunsell and Mumbai-based Mott McDonald.

The consultant is expected to prepare a comprehensive master plan, detailed project report, procurement documents and other necessary reports.

According to a Cidco source, ?The committee comprising representatives of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Cidco will select the final candidate by January next year. The committee will scrutinise the statements of application, technical bids filed by these companies and later examine the financial bids. The bidder scoring highest marks will be awarded the contract.?

The official pointed out that Scott Wilson had the experience of preparing master plans for Brussel, Belgrade, Dublin airports while Louis Berger had drawn up the master plans for Al Dorado, National Airport of Egypt-run airports in Egypt and Mexico.

The third bidder, Maunsell, has prepared master plans for Houston, Philadelphia, Dulles, O?Hara and JFK airports. Mott McDonald was involved in the designing of Manchester, Red Hill View, Pearson airports and the Heathrow terminal in the UK.
