Food inflation fell to 15.53% in the year ended October 9 on low vegetable prices while the fuel price index climbed 11.14% in the same period, according to government data released on Thursday. Annual food and fuel inflation stood at 16.37% and 11.14%, respectively, in the previous week. The primary articles price index rose 18.05% in the week, compared with an annual rise of 18.54% a week earlier. The wholesale price index, the most widely watched gauge of prices in India, rose 8.62% in September, compared with an annual rise of 8.5% in August.
