FMCG major Emami on Wednesday posted a 30.2% year-on-year growth in its net profit for the quarter ended June to R60.68 crore, from R46.61 crore for the same period a year ago. Net sales stood at R383.65 crore during the first quarter this fiscal, against R338.83 crore during the same period last fiscal.

The Kolkata-based group said it is going to set up a R500-crore hospital at Rajarhat in the eastern fringes of the city even if it is unsure that when the Bengal government would allow it to re-open fire-hit AMRI Hospital. ?It will take more than two-and-half years to set up the new hospital,? Aditya V Agarwal, non-executive director of Emami, said.
