Bullish on its upcoming bike, the Multi Starda 2010, Italian superbike maker Ducati is eyeing a four-fold jump in sales in 2010 at over 100 units as compared to 25-30 units the company has sold in 2009. The company is also in the process of ramping up its network in the country and opened its second showroom in India at Gurgaon on Friday.
“Though our volumes are still low but the increase in sales from 30 bikes this year to an estimated 100 bikes next year is a significant jump and this will come on the back of new products and increased dealership network across four more cities in the next six months,” Mirko Bordiga, CEO (Asia Pacific), Ducati said.
According to Bordiga, Ducati will set up dealers in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata between January and June 2010 to cater to larger customer base. ?Till now Super Bike and Monster has contributed maximum to our sales. Going forward, Street Fighter will play an important role in our sales along with Multi Starda, which is a 1200cc bike and would be priced at around Rs 18 lakh,” Ashish Chordia, CEO, Ducati India said.
