US-based electronics auto components major Delphi Corporation on Monday announced the start of construction of a new electronics manufacturing facility in Chennai. The foundation stone for the same was unveiled by Jeff Owens, president, Delphi Electronics & Safety and president, Delphi Asia-Pacific, and Ashok B Ramaswamy, president and managing director, Delphi India.
Delphi will be investing close to Rs 250 crore in the new plant, which is planned to be built in three phases and is expected to be operational by 2009-end. This investment will help expand its product portfolio and manufacturing footprint in the country to more effectively meet the needs of the growing automotive market.
